The Opekete Foundation was created to honor the legacy of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (1921–2021), a passionate educator and nurse who believed deeply in the power of education. She was a scholarship recipient herself and spent her life helping others, especially women, get access to education and financial independence.
The Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship (FBM) Scholarship for Women is the foundation’s main program. It gives financial support to women who want to become teachers or nurses, particularly those studying STEM courses. 2025 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship (FBM) Eligibility Requirements
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a female Nigerian citizen
- Currently enrolled or newly admitted into a public or federal government-owned Senior Secondary School or University in Nigeria
- Be planning to study Nursing or STEM-related Teaching courses at the university level
- Secondary School Applicants must have at least 5 Distinctions (A or B) in English, Mathematics, and 3 other key subjects in Junior WAEC
- University Applicants:
- Must have met the JAMB cut-off score for their chosen course and institution
