AFREXIMBANK 2026 Internship Program Details

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a Multilateral Financial Institution established to finance and promote intra- and extra-African trade. The shareholders comprise African governments, African private and institutional investors, and non-African private and institutional investors. The Bank is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, and currently operates branches in Harare, Zimbabwe; in Abuja, Nigeria; in Abidjan, Ivory Coast; in Kampala, Uganda; in Yaoundé, Cameroon; and in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Afreximbank Group recognises that, as part of its mandate to promote and finance trade in Africa, it needs to facilitate a broader understanding of the problems of African trade and trade finance, as well as the principles of trade finance, especially structured trade finance, which is its operating model. By offering good students a chance for an internship with the Group, it is expected that students will leave with a better knowledge of the Afreximbank Group mandate and operating model, which they will put to use as they develop their careers..

Eligibility Requirements for the AFREXIMBANK 2026 Internship Program

To be eligible for the AFREXIMBANK 2026 Internship, applicants must:

• Be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized institution during the year of the internship.
• Be between 20 and 32 years old at the time of application.
• Be a national of an AFREXIMBANK member state, or of African descent living in the diaspora. Non-African students whose interests align with the Bank’s mission may also apply.
• Be fluent in English or French (working knowledge of the other language is preferred). Proficiency in Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage.
• Be studying in fields such as economics, finance, business administration, accounting, law, social sciences, statistics, engineering, or related disciplines.
• Submit a valid recommendation letter from their academic institution indicating the need and duration of the internship (up to six months).

Note: Children of AFREXIMBANK staff are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply for the AFREXIMBANK 2026 Internship Program

• Step 1: Interested and qualified applicants should apply using the official link below
• Step 2: Once accepted, successful candidates will be given two weeks to accept a conditional offer from the Bank; failure to do so will result in the offer expiring.
• Step 3: During these two weeks, selected interns must provide proof of valid medical insurance and group personal accident cover that is applicable in Egypt (or their assigned internship location) for the entire internship duration.
• Step 4: Failure to provide these documents before the start date will lead to automatic withdrawal of the offer.
• Step 5: All interns are expected to commence their internship within the first month of their assigned internship season.
