Indian Government ICCR African Scholarship 2026 Details
The Indian Government ICCR African Scholarship is part of the scholarship programs managed by ICCR. ICCR administers about 21 different scholarship schemes every year. Some are funded directly by ICCR, while others are administered on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Ayush.
The scholarship supports studies at the undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels. Students study at Central and State Universities, Institutes, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Agricultural Institutions in India.
ICCR introduced the Admissions to Alumni (A2A) Portal in January 2018 to manage applications online. The portal contains full information about scholarship schemes, Indian universities, available courses, and guidelines.
The medium of instruction in Indian universities is English. Applicants must be able to speak and understand English well enough to follow lectures without difficulty.

Eligibility Requirements for the Indian Government ICCR African Scholarship 2026
- Must be a citizen of an African country
- Must apply through the A2A Portal
- Must have good knowledge of English
- Must write a 500-word essay in English on a topic provided in the A2A Portal
- Must not submit more than one application on the A2A Portal
- Must have a valid passport (including applicants from countries that do not require a passport to travel to India)
- Must meet the admission requirements of the selected university

Indian Government ICCR African Scholarship 2026 Benefits
Scholarship expenses are managed in two parts:
A. Initial expenses to be managed by the scholar on arrival:
- Hostel fee
- Mess fee
- Electricity charges
- Caution money
- Application fee
- Health insurance
- FRRO registration late fee
B. Expenses covered by ICCR after completion of formalities:
- Stipend
- House Rent Allowance (HRA)
- Thesis charges (paid directly to scholar)
- Tuition Fee / Other Compulsory Fee (paid to the university)
- Air tickets (as admissible)
Students are advised to carry at least USD 700 or equivalent in Indian Rupees (INR 50,000) to cover immediate expenses before the first stipend is received.

- Certified copy of the syllabus of the last qualifying examination
- Valid passport with appropriate visa
- Student visa (Undergraduate/Postgraduate) or Research visa (PhD)
