The Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships Scheme is part of the University of Sydney’s mission to support exceptional international students who are beginning a CRICOS-registered coursework degree at the university.
You do not need to submit a separate application for this scholarship. If you’re an international student who has received an unconditional offer from the University of Sydney and meet the eligibility requirements, you will automatically be considered.
This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable in the following years. The award is based on academic merit, and final selections are made by a university-appointed committee.

Eligibility Requirements for the University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships 2026
To be eligible for the VCIS, you must:
- Be an international student
- Have applied for but not yet started a CRICOS-registered bachelor’s or master’s coursework program at the University of Sydney (usually delivered onshore)
- Have received an unconditional offer of admission by the application deadline
- Not be receiving another University of Sydney scholarship valued at A$10,000 or more per year
- Not have previously held a VCIS if you’re applying for a second degree
- Not be receiving a scholarship funded by the Australian Government
