Chalmers University of Technology Doctoral Scholarship Details
This doctoral position is offered at the Department of Physics under the Division of Condensed Matter and Materials Theory.
The research project studies polarons. These are formed when charges interact with the lattice in materials. The goal is to understand how these interactions influence the efficiency of materials used in solar-energy devices.
You will use advanced electronic-structure calculations, machine learning methods, and molecular dynamics to model these effects. The research will help design improved semiconductors for solar cells and solar-to-fuel conversion.
The position is fully funded from the start. It is a fixed-term appointment of four years. If you teach up to 20 percent, the position may be extended to five years.
Doctoral students will:
- Take advanced-level courses within the Graduate School of Physics or Materials Science
- Develop independent research ideas
- Publish and present research results
- Collaborate with experimental partners
- Present findings at international conferences
