2026 Government of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Program Details

The National Scholarship Programme is designed to promote academic mobility. It allows:

  1. International Master’s Students – To study in Slovakia for 1–2 semesters (4–10 months).
  2. PhD Students – To carry out study, research, or artistic stays in Slovakia for 1–10 months.
  3. University Teachers, Researchers, and Artists – To participate in teaching, research, or artistic stays for 1–10 months.

This programme is not meant for those already enrolled in full-time degree studies in Slovakia. It focuses on temporary mobility stays that enrich both the visiting scholars and the Slovak host institutions.

Government of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Program 2026 Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  1. Students (Master’s level only):
    • Must be enrolled at a university outside Slovakia.
    • Must have completed at least 2.5 years of university study.
    • Must be accepted by a Slovak higher education institution for a mobility stay.
  2. PhD Students:
    • Must be enrolled in a PhD programme outside Slovakia.
    • Must be accepted by a Slovak university or research institution for a mobility stay.
  3. University Teachers, Researchers, and Artists:
    • Must be invited to a Slovak university or research institution for teaching, research, or artistic work.
    • Must not exceed 10 years of professional experience (with special exceptions considered).

Note: Citizens of any country (except Slovakia) may apply.

The NSP covers living expenses during the scholarship stay:

  • Master’s students: €620 per month
  • PhD students: €1,025.50 per month
  • University teachers/researchers/artists:
    • Without a PhD and less than 4 years’ experience – €1,025.50 per month
    • With a PhD and less than 10 years’ experience – €1,370 per month
    • With a PhD and more than 10 years’ experience – €1,470 per month

Additional Support

  • Travel Grant: Up to €1,500, depending on the applicant’s home country distance from Slovakia.
  • Medical Costs Reimbursement: Up to €250 for required medical examination (for stays longer than 90 days).

How to Apply for the 2026 Government of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Program (Step-by-Step)

  1. Check Eligibility: Confirm that you meet the requirements for your category.
