SBW Berlin Scholarship for International Students 2026 Details
The SBW Berlin Scholarship is designed for international students who are committed to social development. Scholars work on social or non-profit projects during their studies in Berlin.
These projects are ideally linked to organisations in the scholars’ home countries and aim to improve living conditions there.
After graduation, scholarship recipients are expected to continue their projects in their home countries for at least 18 months. SBW Berlin provides advisory support during this period.

Eligibility Requirements for the SBW Berlin Scholarship for International Students 2026
- Must be between 18 and 30 years old
- Must be a foreign national from a developing country
- Must hold a valid student visa or residence permit for study purposes
- Must not have lived in Germany for more than 18 months before applying
- Must have experience in the non-profit or social sector
- Must provide letters of recommendation from a social or non-profit organisation
- Must have a university entrance qualification
- Must have an average grade equivalent to at least 2.0 in the German grading system
- Must have relatively low net income
- Must not have first-degree family members permanently living in Germany
- Must be applying before starting studies or be enrolled in the first, second, or third semester
- Must intend to work in the home country or in charitable activities after graduation
