Diamond Jubilee Research Scholarships 2025/2026 Details
The University of Strathclyde launched the Diamond Jubilee Research Scholarships as part of its 60th-anniversary celebration to support outstanding doctoral researchers. For the 2025/2026 academic year, the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences is offering a limited number of fully funded scholarships for PhD study. These scholarships are open to international and domestic students pursuing full-time or part-time doctoral research in a wide range of disciplines, including Education, English, History, Journalism, Languages, Law, Politics, Psychology, Social Policy, Social Work, and Speech & Language Therapy. Eligibility Requirements for the Diamond Jubilee Research Scholarships 2025/2026
To be considered for the University of Strathclyde Diamond Jubilee Research Scholarships 2025/2026, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must hold an excellent academic record, which may include:
- A First-Class undergraduate degree (or international equivalent); and/or
- A relevant Masterβs degree with Merit or Distinction; and/or
- Other evidence of equivalent academic achievement.
- Applicants with an Upper Second-Class undergraduate degree (2:1) and a relevant Masterβs degree, along with an exceptional research proposal, are also encouraged to apply.
- A strong research potential is essential and must be demonstrated through a compelling research proposal. There must also be a clear alignment between the applicantβs research interests and the expertise of a department or subject area within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Applicants must secure an academic offer for a doctoral place at Strathclyde by the closing date: 11 April 2025. Early application is highly recommended.
- If an offer is not yet in place, candidates must show evidence of prior discussion with a potential supervisor by including a supervisor support letter in their online application.
- Part-time study is only available to Home (UK) students. International students must apply for full-time study.

This scholarship covers tuition fees only. There is no stipend or funding for living costs, so applicants must be able to self-fund their living expenses throughout the programme.

- A 1,500-word research proposal including:
Title, Research question(s), Research context, Research methods, and Preparedness.
(Note: References are not counted within the word limit.) - A 2-page CV highlighting academic achievements and relevant professional experience
- All academic transcripts and certificates obtained to date
- Two academic reference letters
- Proof of English language proficiency:
IELTS Academic with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 or 7.0, depending on your programme, taken within 2 years before the start of your PhD (or equivalent qualification), if English is not your first language
