University of Waterloo Scholarships 2026 in Canada Details
The University of Waterloo offers a $10,000 International Student Entrance Scholarship for eligible students. International fee-paying students admitted to full-time, first-year degree programs starting in September 2026 will receive $10,000 for their first-year studies, and no application is required.
The scholarship is awarded in two instalments:
- $5,000 in late July for first-term tuition
- $5,000 in late November for second-term tuition
The scholarship is only available in the first year and is applied directly to tuition fees. Students can receive this scholarship in addition to other entrance scholarships offered by the university.
Additional scholarships are also available, such as the Waterloo President’s and Merit scholarships, Scholarships for Black students and also across faculties such as Engineering, Mathematics, and Science. Some are automatic, while others require separate applications.

Eligibility Requirements for the University of Waterloo Scholarships 2026 in Canada
- Must be an international fee-paying student
- Must be admitted to a full-time, first-year degree program starting September 2026
- Must remain enrolled full-time in first and second terms
- Must continue to pay international tuition fees
Not eligible:
- Transfer students
- Students who deferred admission from September 2025 to 2026
- Students enrolled in specific excluded programs
