EU Delegation to the African Union Traineeship Program 2025 Details
The European Union Delegation to the African Union Traineeship Program 2025 offers young graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience in diplomacy, communication, and international relations. The traineeship will take place at the EU Delegation office, under the Political, Press and Information (PPI) Section.
Selected trainees will actively contribute to the Delegation’s communication and political analysis work. They will assist in research on regional and continental developments, drafting policy briefs, preparing reports, and supporting the Delegation’s media and public diplomacy activities.
This 6-month program provides a unique learning experience in EU–AU relations, allowing participants to understand how the EU’s external policies are shaped and implemented at the continental level. Trainees will work closely with professionals in a multicultural and diplomatic environment, developing both technical and soft skills essential for a global career.
The program is funded, and trainees receive a monthly grant to cover basic living expenses. However, travel, accommodation, visa, and insurance costs are not covered by the Delegation and must be handled by the participant.

Eligibility Requirements for the EU Delegation to the African Union Traineeship Program 2025
To qualify for the EU Delegation to the African Union Traineeship Program 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in Ethiopia will only be considered.
- Master’s degree in communication, journalism, or similar OR in political science, international relations, economics, law, or other social studies with proven experience in communication
- Maximum 1 year of work experience
- Fluency in English
- A keen understanding of and interest in the European Union and the African Union’s politics, economics, and governance
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
- Excellent capacity in editing and producing Audiovisual, social media, and communication products, and in using Canva or other edition and designing platforms
- A hands-on, pro-active, reliable attitude, an openness to learning, and a willingness to contribute with ideas.
