University of Florida Graduate Scholarship 2026 Details
This program is a funded PhD position in quantitative fisheries at the University of Florida, working with Dr. Edward Camp. The position is part of an interdisciplinary project that brings together biological, ecological, and socioeconomic research to understand changes in marine fishery systems and their effects on fishers and management.
The student will study changes in fish species availability and how fishers respond to these changes. The work will involve quantitative analysis of existing fisheries data from federal or state agencies. There will also be opportunities to develop socioecological models to study management outcomes.
The position is expected to be part of a cohort of 3 to 4 students working on related topics. The student will be based in Gainesville, Florida, and will not be required to do field work. The role is 20 hours per week.
The position is expected to start between August 15, 2026 and January 1, 2027, and end between August 15, 2029 and December 15, 2030.

Eligibility Requirements for the University of Florida Graduate Scholarship 2026
- An undergraduate degree in fisheries, wildlife ecology, quantitative fields, natural resources, or a related field
- A master’s degree in fisheries, natural resources, or a related field is preferred
- Experience with scientific research and interest in quantitative fisheries research
- Demonstrated experience with quantitative fisheries work is strongly preferred
- Experience using models such as GLMs, assessment, or simulation in R or a similar platform is preferred
- Must successfully apply for admission to the University of Florida PhD program in the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences
