Wilson Center Research Fellowship 2026/2027 Details
The Wilson Center Research Fellowship Program is the Center’s flagship fellowship, designed to connect academic research with real-world policy discussions. Fellows conduct independent research while contributing to the Wilson Center’s mission of linking ideas to policy.
The fellowship runs for twelve months, from June 1, 2026, to May 30, 2027. Fellows work remotely during their tenure, with two funded trips to Washington, D.C. at the beginning and end of the fellowship.
Fellows are required to complete their proposed research project and participate in internal Work in Progress presentations. They are also encouraged to engage with policymakers, produce policy reports and opinion pieces, and take part in public events organized by the Center.

Eligibility Requirements for the Wilson Center Research Fellowship 2026/2027
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Academics with a PhD and a published book or monograph beyond the dissertation.
- Practitioners, journalists, policymakers, or nonprofit leaders with at least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrate policy impact, leadership, or a strong publication record.
- Be proficient in English.
- Institutional affiliation is not required.
- Be able to meet fellowship obligations while on leave or with other affiliations.
- Previous Wilson Center fellows may apply.
