Wrexham University BN (Hons) Adult Nursing Scholarship 2025 Details

The Wrexham University International BN (Hons) Adult Nursing programme is a pioneering initiative developed by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) in collaboration with external partners. Approved by the Welsh Government in May 2023, this three-year pilot project aims to address nursing workforce needs in NHS Wales by offering fully funded nursing education to international students.

Each year, the Welsh Government determines the number of nurse training places required to maintain a robust healthcare workforce. UK students benefit from the NHS Wales Bursary, which covers their nursing education in exchange for a commitment to work in NHS Wales for two years post-qualification. This opportunity has been extended to international students who wish to study nursing in the UK and work in Wales after graduation.

Our courses have been developed to help provide high-quality health education and training opportunities in Wales. The Health Education Innovation Quarter (HEIQ) at Wrexham University will house our suite of nurse education and allied health education programs.

International students will receive a bursary of £16,500 per year of studies from Higher Education Improvement Wales (HEIW) in exchange for remaining in Wales for two years to work upon successful completion of their degree. In addition to the bursary, students will receive a one-off payment of a £1,500 grant to support living and settling-in costs.

Please note that spaces on the HEIW International Bursary are limited for the 2025/26 academic year: places are available for September 2025 and places available for March 2026. We are currently not able to offer self-funded places on this programme for international students.

Eligibility Requirements for the Wrexham University BN (Hons) Adult Nursing Scholarship 2025

To qualify for the Wrexham University BN (Hons) Adult Nursing Scholarship 2025, applicants must meet their standard, country-specific educational entry requirements.

English Language Requirements;

All students applying for the international bursary must hold an IELTS Academic with a minimum overall score of 6.0 with no skill score below 5.5. This certificate must be no longer than 2 years old on the course start date.
