2026 University of Guelph Arrell Scholarships Details
The University of Guelph Arrell Scholarships is designed to support Master’s students whose research aligns with the mission of the Arrell Food Institute. The institute focuses on building better food systems by producing healthier and more nutritious food, strengthening the economy, and reducing environmental and social harm within the agri-food sector.
Scholars will combine their graduate research with leadership responsibilities. They will work in multidisciplinary teams alongside community, government, and industry partners, as well as University of Guelph experts connected to the Arrell Food Institute.
The scholarship is valued at $50,000 per year for up to two years (six semesters). The award is paid directly into the student’s account in three equal installments per year. In exceptional cases, a one-semester extension may be approved.
Scholarship offers are conditional upon admission to and registration in an eligible graduate program at the University of Guelph. Being selected for the scholarship does not automatically guarantee admission.
Award recipients will be required to register for UNIV*6050 in the winter semester of their first year or complete an equivalent experiential learning opportunity approved by their supervisor and the Arrell Food Institute Director. Recipients must also contribute time equivalent to this coursework to collaborative Arrell Food Institute projects during the award period.

Eligibility Requirements for the University of Guelph Arrell Scholarships 2026
To be considered for the University of Guelph Arrell Scholarships, you must:
- Be entering a Master’s program in the Fall 2026 semester
- Have a minimum first-class (A-) admission average
- Propose research that aligns with the mission of the Arrell Food Institute
- Submit a complete graduate program application by the deadline
- Submit a complete Arrell Scholarship application by the deadline
- Maintain full-time registration and satisfactory academic progress
- Not hold this award together with Ontario Graduate Scholarships/QEII, Brock Doctoral Scholarship, Dairy Farmers of Ontario Doctoral Research Assistantship, or Tri-Agency Scholarships (including Vanier)
