2026 African Graduate Fellowships at the American University in Cairo (AUC) Details
The African Graduate Fellowship is a competitive funding opportunity offered by the American University in Cairo for African students pursuing a master’s degree.
The fellowship supports full-time study in any of the graduate programs offered at AUC. Fellows are required to enrol in up to nine credits per semester or the number required by their program.
The fellowship is awarded for a maximum of five semesters and one intervening summer session. Academic performance is reviewed every semester. For students in the Counselling Psychology graduate program, the fellowship duration may extend to a maximum of seven semesters.
Fellows are also assigned academic-related responsibilities alongside their studies.

Eligibility Requirements for the 2026 African Graduate Fellowships at AUC
- Must be a non-Egyptian African national
- Applicants with dual non-African nationality are not eligible
- Open to all graduate disciplines offered at AUC
- Must be a newly admitted graduate degree-seeking student at AUC
- Must meet AUC graduate admission requirements
- Must submit an International TOEFL iBT or Academic IELTS score that meets AUC cut-off requirements
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Continuing students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 to retain the fellowship
