Eligibility Requirements for Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship 2025

To qualify for the Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship 2025, applicants must:

Be domiciled in Africa, India or one of the selected Commonwealth countries listed below
Be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes
Hold an offer to start a full-time master’s (including MRes) for 2025/2026 at the University of Nottingham UK, studying in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science or Faculty of Social Sciences

Required Documents for the Scholarship

To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents:

Completed Scholarship Application Form
Proof of Admission (Offer letter from the University of Nottingham)
Personal Statement detailing how the scholarship aligns with their goals and how they plan to contribute to their home country
Academic Transcripts and Certificates from previous institutions
Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume outlining academic and professional achievements
Proof of English Language Proficiency (if English is not the applicant’s first language). IELTS requirements are detailed on the course pages, and alternative qualifications may also be accepted.
References (depending on the course, applicants may need to provide two references, including at least one academic reference). These must be dated within two years of the application and, if not received directly from the referee, must be signed and on letter-headed paper.

How to Apply for Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship 2025 (Step by Step)

To apply for this scholarship, follow these steps:

You must apply for and receive an offer to study a full-time master’s (including MRes) at the University of Nottingham for 2025/26 before applying for this scholarship. Search for courses and find out how to apply.
The University requires an application fee of £50 for postgraduate taught course applications. Please be aware that your academic application will not be assessed until the application fee has been paid and processed.
When you have received your offer to study with us, you can apply through the scholarships section of our application system, NottinghamHub.
If you have an offer for an MRes course, email the scholarships team on [email protected] for instructions on how to apply.
If you have applied for a full-time two-year master’s course, you can apply for this scholarship. However, the scholarship is awarded for one year only. If successful, the scholarship would only be applied to the first year’s tuition fees. You would need to ensure that you have the means to cover any balance in tuition fees.

Application Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated primarily on their ability to present a clear vision and a tangible plan for developing a specific solution that addresses key economic, environmental, structural, social, or political challenges in their home country. Successful candidates must also demonstrate how their chosen course of study at the University of Nottingham aligns with their goals and will equip them with the necessary skills to implement their solutions effectively.

Beyond this, applications will be assessed based on traditional scholarship criteria, including the motivation for studying at Nottingham and noteworthy achievements.

Be mindful of the strict word count limit for each question. The system does not enforce this automatically, so ensure your responses stay within the limit before submission. Answers exceeding the word limit may not be reviewed.

Scholarship Requirements

You do not need to respond to your offer before submitting your application for this scholarship, however awards will only be made to students who accept their offer to study with us.
We will assess all scholarship applications before making any awards. You may be offered a scholarship of either 50% or 100% of tuition fees. We will contact you at the end of May 2025 to confirm the outcome of your application.
If you are awarded this scholarship, it will be deducted from the tuition fees charged to you as a student at the University of Nottingham. We will not pay tuition fee scholarships to you directly.
To maximise the reach of the university’s scholarships offering, our international scholarships cannot be combined with other University scholarships. Where you are awarded multiple scholarships, the single highest-value award will be applied.
