The HKU Summer Research Programme 2026 offers an intensive research experience for students interested in advanced study and research careers. Participants are placed in academic units of HKU and mentored by professorial staff to design and conduct a research project aligned with their interests. Eligibility Requirements for the University of Hong Kong Summer Research Internship Programme 2026
Applicants must meet the following:
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or master’s student
- Strong academic performance and research interest
- Willingness to commit to the full 10-week programme
- Good command of English (applicants from non-English instruction institutions may need proficiency proof)
Note: The Faculty of Law will not accept applications for this edition of the programme.

To complete your application online, you must prepare:
- Personal and academic information
- Proposed faculty, department, and field of study
- Proposed mentor(s) you wish to work with
- Personal statement (300–500 words)
- Research interest statement (100–200 words)
- Passport-size photo
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Final/latest academic transcripts and certificates for Bachelor’s and, if applicable, Master’s programmes
- English language test result (if your previous instruction was not wholly in English)
University of Hong Kong Summer Research Internship Programme Benefits
Participants in the HKU Summer Research Programme 2026 will receive:
- One-to-one mentorship with an eminent HKU professor
- Scholarship of HK$10,000 upon successful completion
- Financial support for airfare (up to HK$5,000) and university accommodation (up to HK$5,000) on a reimbursement basis

How to Apply for the University of Hong Kong Summer Research Internship Programme
- Visit the official HKU Graduate School Summer Research Programme page.
- Prepare all required documents and statements.
- Complete the online application between January 9, 2026 (10 am HKT) and February 9, 2026 (5 pm HKT).
- Pay the non-refundable application fee (HK$300) during submission.
- Submit and await selection results (usually announced by the end of March).
Successful applicants must attend in person at HKU starting from June 15, 2026, though the first two weeks (June 1–14) can be conducted online if necessary.
