Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center Internships 2026 Details
The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center Internship Program is a ten-week, cohort-based summer internship experience. It is a full-time program that requires interns to work 35 hours per week.
The program focuses on increasing the representation of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders across education, exhibitions, research, and public programs.
Interns are placed in one of two main tracks: Education or Operations. The Education track focuses on expanding AANHPI representation in K-12 education and building community partnerships. The Operations track focuses on exhibitions and museum procedures.
APAC also occasionally offers a Curatorial/Archival track. This track focuses on research, writing, archival work, and program development related to AANHPI collections and history.
All interns work in a collaborative learning environment. They receive professional development and gain practical experience in museum operations and cultural programming.
The internship is conducted in person at the APAC office in Washington, D.C.

Eligibility Requirements for the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center Internships 2026
- Must be a current undergraduate student (sophomore, junior, or senior)
- Must be a recent graduate within 15 months of graduation
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- All academic majors are accepted
