Eligibility Requirements for the Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Program 2026/2027

To be eligible for the Tianjin University Silk Road Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be citizens of eligible countries including Nigeria
• Be physically and mentally healthy
• Hold the required academic qualification for the chosen program
• Meet the age requirements:
  • Undergraduate applicants: under 25 years
  • Master’s applicants: under 35 years
  • PhD applicants: under 40 years
• Meet the language proficiency requirements
  • For Chinese-taught programs:
    • HSK5 certificate with a minimum score of 180
  • For English-taught programs:
    • IELTS score of at least 6.0; or
    • TOEFL score of at least 80

Applicants whose previous degree was taught in English may submit an English instruction certificate instead.
