DAAD EPOS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
You must:
- Be from a low- or middle-income country
- Hold a completed academic degree of 240 ECTS (4 years), with results in the upper third of your cohort — far above average, not just a pass
- Have at least two years of relevant professional experience after your Bachelor’s degree, completed by the time you apply
- Have earned your most recent academic degree less than six years before your application
How the Programme Runs
- July: German language course
- September–December: Core Course, in Berlin
- January–April: Advanced Modules (20 ECTS) — up to 10 of these ECTS can be completed at partner universities in Heidelberg or Bergen instead of Berlin
- May–August: Master’s Thesis, completed at the National Institute of Public Health in Cuernavaca, Mexico
The scholarship ends at the end of August, and scholars are expected to return to their home country at that point.

Required Documents
Every document below must be printed, signed personally with a pen, dated with the current date, and then scanned — a digital signature isn’t accepted — and each file must use the exact naming format shown:

- Certificate(s) of Employment proving at least two years of relevant work experience since your Bachelor’s, on letterhead, signed and stamped → 06_Lastname_EmplCert. Including a statement from your current employer confirming willingness to re-employ you after the scholarship strengthens this.
- Proof of English proficiency → 07_Lastname_English. IELTS (Band 6) or TOEFL (550 paper-based, 80 internet-based) is required — except if you’re from Botswana, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, or Zimbabwe, in which case a certificate from your previous university’s Dean of Studies confirming your entire degree was taught in English can replace an IELTS or TOEFL score entirely.
- Diplomas and transcripts for every relevant degree, with certified translations into English or German if the originals are in another language, including the grading scale → named 08_Lastname_1_Degree_Diploma and 08_Lastname_1_Degree_Transcript, numbered sequentially if you hold more than one relevant degree. Applicants from China, India, Mongolia, or Vietnam must also include an APS Certificate as 08_Lastname_APS.
