NextGen Developers Hackathon Competition 2025 Details
The Next-Gen developers hackathon competition is a groundbreaking initiative organised by the Better Africa Foundation to empower students, young developers, and blockchain developers in West Africa to learn, grow and innovate creative solutions on Cardano, a blockchain platform.
This hackathon serves as a launchpad for Web3 enthusiasts who want to grow and gain visibility in the space. In this program, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the Cardano blockchain technology. You will have an opportunity to pitch your ideas to top Web3 investors, receive mentorship and incubation opportunities, network with fellow developers, and stand a chance to win a ₦10,000,000 cash prize award.
Before the competition, each participant will undergo a 6-week intensive training on Cardano essentials. This training is meant to help you get familiar with the platform and improve your understanding of blockchain technology. This training is both hybrid and virtual, which makes it flexible and accessible to anyone.
This competition is open to all skill levels. The mentorship training will equip participants to tackle real-world challenges across four core tracks — DeFi and Payment, AI and Blockchain Fusion, Identity and Governance, as well as Social Impact and Sustainability. These solutions will be developed and tested on the Cardano platform.

Eligibility Criteria for the NextGen Developers Hackathon Competition 2025
To qualify for the Next-Gen hackathon competition, participants must meet the following criteria:
- This competition is open to undergraduate students and early-career developers with less than 3 years of experience, interested in blockchain and Web3 technologies.
- Join as a team or solo: You can participate individually or join a team of 4 people.
- All skill levels are accepted: Even if you are a beginner or an expert, training and support will be provided to help you succeed.
- Applicant must be passionate about innovation, problem-solving and using decentralised technology to solve real issues.
