Harvard LEAD Fellowship Program 2026/2027 in the USA is here and open.
The Harvard LEAD (Learn, Engage, Advance, Disrupt) Fellowship is a fully funded one-year leadership program jointly offered by the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. It is designed to empower women and gender-diverse leaders from low- and middle-income countries working in the field of global health.
The fellowship includes a virtual learning phase and a six-week in-person residency at Harvard University, Cambridge, USA, where fellows receive executive leadership training, mentorship, and access to a global network of experts. Selected fellows will enhance their leadership capacity, strengthen their impact in their home organizations, and advance gender equity in global health.

Harvard LEAD Fellowship Program 2026/2027 Details
To equip and empower more women leaders in global health, the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) and the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health offer a one-year transformational fellowship aimed at advancing leadership skills in professionals from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
The Harvard LEAD Fellowship 2026/27 will run from September 2026 through August 2027. The program combines a virtual engagement phase with an in-person residency in April 2027 at Harvard University, Cambridge, USA.
Throughout the fellowship year, selected fellows will participate in:
- One-on-one executive leadership coaching
- Mentorship and team-building sessions
- Leadership workshops and speaking engagements
- An executive education course at Harvard
- Networking opportunities with global health leaders and Harvard faculty
During the six-week in-residence period, fellows will live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, free from work obligations, and take part in intensive in-person sessions, including workshops, executive education courses, and leadership development activities.

Eligibility Requirements for the Harvard LEAD Fellowship Program 2026/2027
To be considered for the Harvard LEAD Fellowship 2026/2027, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must hold at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Must work full-time in the field of global health and have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience beyond their academic training.
- Must be able to take a leave of absence or equivalent from their home institution during the six-week in-residence program in April 2027.
- Must be eligible to obtain a J-1 visa for travel to the United States and be available to reside in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the full duration of the in-person program.
- (Note: Visa fees, housing, flights, and a living stipend for the U.S. stay will be covered by the fellowship.)
- Must not have participated in any full-time fellowship lasting four months or longer within the two years preceding the Harvard LEAD Fellowship.
- Must demonstrate substantial leadership experience and show strong potential for future impact and growth in global health leadership.
