Texas A&M University Chancellor’s STEM Fellowship Program 2027 | Fully Funded
The Hagler Institute for Advanced Study at Texas A&M University is accepting applications for the Chancellor’s National Academy STEM Ph.D. Fellowship Program. Every fellow is paired with a member of one of America’s national academies the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Medicine, or the National Academy of Sciences who can serve as their dissertation chair, co-chair, or committee member, alongside a rising-star faculty member. The programme also gives fellows regular contact with other National Academy members on faculty and visiting Fellows of the Hagler Institute, building a research community most PhD students never get access to this early in their careers.

Texas A&M University Chancellor’s STEM Fellowship Requirements to Apply
- You must earn a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field by August 2027. A master’s degree is not required, though you can already hold one.
- Your cumulative undergraduate GPA in your STEM bachelor’s programme must be at least 3.9 on a 4.0 scale — this is on the high side, so it’s a real filter, not a formality.
- You must either apply for admission or already be admitted to one of the 15 participating STEM doctoral programs at Texas A&M, intending to start your PhD in Fall 2027. You must be officially accepted and actually enrol for that semester.
- Current doctoral students are not eligible to apply — this is strictly for incoming PhD students.

How to Submit Your Application
This fellowship requires two separate applications, and both must be completed before the deadline:
- Submit a graduate admission application. Apply for Fall 2027 admission to a STEM doctoral program in one of the 15 participating departments or interdisciplinary programs. If you’re already a Texas A&M master’s student, note that you cannot apply by a simple “Letter of Intent” — a full graduate admissions application is required.
- Complete the Chancellor’s Fellowship application. This is a separate online form on the Hagler Institute for Advanced Study website. As part of it, you’ll need to name one national academy member from your prospective department you’d like to work with, and in 250 words or fewer, explain why their research and achievements align with your own academic goals.
Both applications must be in before the deadline — there’s no flexibility here, since Texas A&M states plainly that late applications will not be permitted or accepted.
