Federal Government Tax Reform Challenge Details
The Tax Reform Challenge is a nationwide competition designed to deepen public understanding of Nigeria’s new tax laws and to mobilise youth participation in fiscal policy discourse. Participants are expected to study the reforms, create original content (article, video, podcast, radio piece or social media post), and publish it within the stated timeframe.
The initiative is part of the broader tax reform agenda, which seeks to simplify the tax system, reduce tax agency duplication, and improve compliance and revenue. For example, one motive is to strengthen internal revenue generation by sub-national governments and reduce over-dependence on federal allocations.
This challenge, therefore, offers a dual benefit: (1) a platform for youth to engage and possibly influence public policy; (2) a chance for individuals to gain recognition, prizes, and career-relevant opportunities in tax, policy, and public administration.
