University of Edinburgh Global Talent Fund BIG Scholarships 2026 Details

The BIG Program, which stands for Backing Invisible Geniuses, supports young talents who have excelled in international Olympiads. The aim is simple: to help brilliant students study at top universities and give them the push they need to grow, learn, and build impactful careers.

This scholarship is managed by the Global Talent Fund with support from XTX Markets and in partnership with the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

The award is open only to students who plan to study in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. It covers specific undergraduate and integrated master’s programs in mathematics.

The funding can last for up to four years. For students applying to MMath programs, you must enter directly into the second year to get full funding for the entire program.

This scholarship is not for students who are already studying at Edinburgh or studying mathematics under another school in the university.

Applicants must apply through UCAS first but do not need an admission offer before starting the scholarship application.

Eligibility Requirements for the University of Edinburgh Global Talent Fund BIG Scholarships 2026

2. Have won a gold, silver or bronze medal in one of the following Olympiads
   • International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
   • International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)
   • International Physics Olympiad (IPhO)
   • Romanian Master of Mathematics
   • European Girls Mathematical Olympiad (gold or silver medal only)
3. Apply for full-time admission into one of these programs in the University of Edinburgh School of Mathematics
   • BSc Applied Mathematics
   • BSc Mathematics
   • BSc Mathematics and Statistics
   • MMath Applied Mathematics (second year direct entry only)
   • MMath Mathematics (second year direct entry only)
4. Not already be studying at the university.
5. Apply through UCAS before starting your scholarship application.
