The Maki Tobe Foundation Scholarship supports students studying in the following fields:

Eligibility Requirements for the Maki Tobe Foundation Scholarship 2026 in Japan
To apply for the Maki Tobe Foundation Scholarship 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be enrolled at a university or graduate school in Japan during the scholarship period
- Must be an undergraduate student in the third year or above, or a graduate student
- Must be studying in one of the approved fields
- Must be under 30 years old as of April 1, 2026
- Applicants above 30 may still be considered if there are unavoidable reasons such as childcare, illness, or natural disasters
- Must have excellent academic performance
- Must demonstrate good character and strong motivation to study
- Must have financial need
- Must be expected to benefit academically from the scholarship
- International students must be self-funded and have a valid student visa
Applicants may still apply if they are already receiving another scholarship, unless the other scholarship provider does not allow simultaneous funding. Projects or studies already supported by another non-repayable scholarship may receive a reduced award from the foundation.

Successful applicants will receive the following financial support:

- 70,000 yen per month
- 840,000 yen per year

Required Documents for the Maki Tobe Foundation Scholarship 2026 in Japan
Applicants are expected to prepare the following documents before applying:
- Scholarship application form in the foundation’s format
- Letter of recommendation in the foundation’s format
- Certificate of enrolment
- Official academic transcripts
- GPA certificate if the transcript does not include GPA
- Residence certificate

Graduate students must submit all university transcripts, including undergraduate records. Transfer students must also submit transcripts from previous institutions. Students in Art and Design may submit up to three A4 pages of portfolio or supporting materials.

Follow the steps below to apply:
- Visit the official scholarship application system of the Maki Tobe Foundation.
- Register your basic information and create your personal application page.
- Complete all sections of the online application form in Japanese.
- Upload all required documents in PDF format.
- Submit the online application before May 8, 2026.
- After completing the online application, print the required mailing invoice.
- Send the original documents by post to the foundation.
- Ensure that all documents arrive at the foundation no later than May 12, 2026.

Important Notice

Applicants should note that:
- Web submission cannot be changed after it has been submitted
- Documents sent by post must exactly match the documents submitted online

- Scholarship benefits may be suspended if the student takes a leave of absence
