What the Scholarship Covers
The NNPC/SEPLAT JV Scholarship awards ₦200,000 per academic year to each selected student. The award is cash-based — paid to help you cover tuition, textbooks, study materials, and other academic expenses.
The key feature of this scholarship is its renewability. You do not apply once and receive a single payment. If you are selected and maintain the required academic standard, the award continues every year through to your final year. For a student with three or four years remaining, that is a cumulative award of ₦600,000 to ₦800,000 over the course of your degree.

Beyond the financial award, past beneficiaries have reported access to SEPLAT mentorship networks and priority consideration for internship opportunities within the NNPC/SEPLAT ecosystem — though these are not formally guaranteed in the scholarship terms.
Approved Courses
This scholarship is not open to all disciplines. The NNPC/SEPLAT JV Scholarship targets specific fields aligned with the energy sector and critical national development areas. Only students studying the following courses are eligible to apply:

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the NNPC/SEPLAT JV National Undergraduate Scholarship, you must meet every one of the following criteria without exception:
- University: You must be currently enrolled in an accredited federal or state university in Nigeria. Private university students are not eligible under this programme
- Year of study: You must be in your second year (200 level) or above at the time of application. First-year students cannot apply
- O’level results: A minimum of five credit passes in WAEC or NECO, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in a single sitting. Results from two sittings are not accepted
- CGPA: A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale. This is a hard requirement — applications below this threshold are not considered
- No concurrent scholarship: You must not be receiving any other scholarship at the time of application. Holding two scholarships simultaneously disqualifies you
- Valid personal email address: All communications from SEPLAT, including shortlist notifications and examination invitations, are sent by email. Use an address you check regularly
The Selection Process
Most scholarship guides for this programme stop at the application stage. The actual selection runs in three stages, and knowing this changes how you prepare.
Stage 1 — Online Application (Preliminary)
You complete a Google Form on the official portal at register.seplatscholarship.com. No document uploads are required at this stage. You provide your personal details, university and department, CGPA, matric number, JAMB registration number, and a summary of your O’level results. Accuracy is critical — any invalid or inconsistent information results in automatic disqualification.
Stage 2 — Scholarship Examination
Shortlisted applicants are notified by email and invited to sit a scholarship examination. This is an aptitude test that assesses your general reasoning, subject knowledge, and academic aptitude. Many applicants are unaware this stage exists. SEPLAT releases past questions for this examination — find and practise with them before the next cycle opens. Preparation at this stage is what separates shortlisted candidates who win from those who do not.
Stage 3 — Final Selection and Award
Candidates who perform well in the examination proceed to final selection. Only successful candidates are contacted with award details. SEPLAT reserves the right to determine the final list of awardees based on the examination results and their own internal review criteria.

How to Apply for the NNPC/SEPLAT JV Scholarship

Step 3: Fill in all sections accurately — personal details, university information, academic records, and O’level results. Double-check every entry before submitting. Candidates who submit incorrect information are disqualified and cannot reapply in that cycle.
Step 4: Submit your application. You will not receive a confirmation that you have been shortlisted — only those who qualify for the examination stage are contacted by email. If you hear nothing, it means you were not shortlisted in that round.
Step 5: If shortlisted, check your email for the examination invitation and report for the aptitude test as instructed.
Application is 100% free. Do not pay anyone — at any stage — to apply or to guarantee your selection. There is no fee at any point in this process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the NNPC/SEPLAT JV Scholarship fully funded?
No — and it is important to be clear about this. The scholarship pays ₦200,000 per academic year, which is significant financial support but does not cover full tuition or living expenses at most Nigerian universities. It is a cash award designed to reduce financial pressure, not eliminate it. The value lies in its renewability — a student awarded at the 200 level can receive ₦200,000 every year through to the final year.

Can 100 level students apply for the NNPC/SEPLAT Scholarship?
No. The scholarship is open to students in 200 level and above only. If you are currently in your first year, prepare your academic record now — particularly your CGPA — so you are ready to apply when you reach 200 level.
What happens after I submit my application?
Only shortlisted candidates are contacted by email. If you are shortlisted, you will receive an invitation to sit a scholarship aptitude examination. SEPLAT does not send rejection notifications — silence means you were not shortlisted in that cycle.
Can I apply if my course is not on the approved list?
No. The scholarship is strictly for students studying one of the approved courses listed on the official SEPLAT scholarship page. Students in unapproved courses are automatically disqualified regardless of their CGPA or O’level results.
Is the NNPC/SEPLAT Scholarship renewable every year?
Yes — as long as you maintain the required academic performance. The ₦200,000 award is paid annually to beneficiaries who continue to meet SEPLAT’s academic standards throughout their degree programme.
Can I hold this scholarship alongside another scholarship?
No. The eligibility criteria explicitly state that you must not be receiving any other scholarship at the time of application. Applying while holding another scholarship — even if you do not disclose it — is a breach of the terms and can result in disqualification or withdrawal of the award.
