The Chevening Scholarship enables outstanding emerging leaders from around the world to pursue a one-year Master’s degree in the United Kingdom. Successful applicants are usually people with leadership ability, ambition, and a strong desire to make a difference in their communities and countries.

The scholarship supports students to study any eligible one-year Master’s course at a UK university. Applicants must choose three different eligible UK Master’s degree courses when applying. Applicants must receive an unconditional offer from at least one of their selected courses by 9 July 2026 at 17:00 BST.

Eligibility Requirements for the Chevening Scholarship 2026 in United Kingdom
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
- Return to your home country for at least two years after the scholarship ends
- Have at least 2,800 hours of work experience after graduating from your undergraduate degree
- Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK Master’s programme
- Have completed your undergraduate degree at least two years before the application deadline
- Apply to three different eligible UK Master’s courses
- Receive an unconditional offer from at least one of the chosen courses by 9 July 2026
- Be able to provide your degree certificate before the interview stage
Applicants are not eligible if they:
- Hold British citizenship or dual British citizenship, except eligible British Overseas Territory citizens or BN(O) holders from Hong Kong
- Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country
- Are employees, former employees, or relatives of employees of the UK government, British embassies, the British Council, sponsoring universities, or some partner organisations within the last two years
- Have previously studied in the UK through a UK government-funded scholarship
